Our mission: Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Our vision: to grant the wish of every eligible child.
In our 43-plus year history, we have granted more than 15,000 local wishes. Our 15,000th wish came true when Gemma, a 7-year-old girl battling leukemia, had a VIP Experience at Zoo Miami (pictured).
Make-A-Wish Southern Florida is a 4-star charity according to Charity Navigator, the nation’s largest and most utilized evaluator of non-profit organizations. This top rating confirms our strong financial health and commitment to accountability and transparency.

Make-A-Wish Southern Florida serves children and families in 22 Florida counties in Southeast and Southwest Florida, the Tampa Bay and Suncoast regions and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Regional Offices are located in Bonita Springs, Sarasota and Tampa.
The Finker-Frenkel Wish House, opened in September 2024 in the historic Overtown community in Miami, extends the impact of the wish experience, establishes our organization’s permanence in the community, and houses our administrative offices in Southeast Florida.

A wish knows no bounds but the child’s wildest imagination. Make-A-Wish crafts the framework, but it is the child’s extraordinary ideas that shape how volunteers will transform those fantasies into reality.
Each wish bursts forth in one of four thrilling categories: to go (to Walt Disney World Resort®, see snow), to have (a dream playset or a beloved puppy), to be (a dazzling singer or heroic firefighter), or to meet (a cherished celebrity).

More than 600 passionate volunteers fuel our wish-granting mission with unwavering commitment. They become wish granters, bring magic to special events, greet families at the airport, and support our work as interns.
Each role is vital, as these dedicated individuals pour their heart and soul into turning dreams into reality for children in need.
